ITZ is a maiden concept in Pakistan and is characterized by the development of planned and well-managed tourist destinations for national and international tourists. The Integrated Tourism Zones (ITZs) are envisioned to be an integrated approach to tourism development that will act as catalysts and key tourism nodes for the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with the goal of enhancing the tourism sector in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Integrated Tourism Development Project (KITE) has conducted “Feasibility Study & Master Planning of Integrated Tourism Zones (ITZ)” for Thandiani Abbotabad, Ghanool Mansehra, Mankyal Swat and Madaklasht Lower Chitral. The Master Planning include the identification of potential tourism areas within the ITZs, mapping of the area, spatial planning of the ITZ, Destination Management Plan, and Infrastructure Development plan through a phased approach.
